Author: Hemchandra M. Shertukde
Hemchandra Madhusudan Shertukde, SM’92, IEEE, was born in Mumbai, India, on April 29, 1953. He graduated from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India with a degree: Bachelor of Technology (high honors) with distinction in 1975. He earned his MS and PhD in electrical engineering with a specialty in controls and systems engineering from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, in 1985 and 1989, respectively. He joined the faculty in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Hartford in 1988. Since 1995, he has been a full professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture (CETA) at the University of Hartford (West Hartford, Connecticut). Since fall 2011, he has been a senior lecturer at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS), Yale (New Haven, Connecticut). He is the principal inventor of two commercialized patents (US Patent 6,178,386 and US Patent 7,291,111). He has published several articles in IEEE Transactions and Proceedings of National and International repute. He has written four solo books namely, Transformers, Target Tracking, Published by Verlag-Dr. Muller in 2010; DPV Grid Transformers, and Digital Controls Illustrated with MATLAB® ; by CRC Press in 2013 and 2014 respectively. The book DPV Grid Transformers by CRC Press/Taylor & Francis Group has received international recognition and will be published in simple Chinese by China Machine Press in December of 2017. He is presently also writing a solo Book Power Systems Analysis Illustrated with ETAP to be published by CRC Press by August of 2018. Dr. Shertukde was nominated to the coveted rank of IEEE Fellow by Power and Energy Society of IEEE in March of 2016.
