About The Book

This book provides lessons that can be used to introduce or conclude the major units of a United States history course at the middle school, high school, or collegiate level. These lessons demonstrate and model strategies and techniques based on “best practices” in the field of education. They will interest, challenge, and engage your students. The lessons awaken the natural curiosity of the student and will bring history to life for them. Students will play the role of archeologists and historians by examining artifacts and developing theories as to their historical significance. Students will examine coins and currency that represent the events, ideals, values, culture, economics, political vision and ideology of various time periods in United States history. The reader will be provided with historical background information on the coins and currency, advice on obtaining replicas of these artifacts, as well as pictures of the artifacts that can be used in class activities.
