About the Book:

The Dinosaurs of Appalachia is an exciting trip back in time where the reader will be guided through the Mesozoic Era of the Eastern United States and learns about the nearly forgotten continent of Appalachia. Readers of all ages will enjoy not only learning about dinosaurs that almost no one else has heard of before, but also the human history and importance of dinosaur paleontology east of the Mississippi. Let Monty be your guide as geology and history come alive while you learn how we know how fast dinosaurs could run, that the nitty-gritty details of fossils open the world of the past to us, why geology is important to understanding dinosaurs, and talk about some of the people who built the science of paleontology. Along the way you will find out how to think like a paleontologist as well as see fantastic landscapes from prehistoric forests to the bottom of the Western Interior Seaway. Learn why Appalachia is so important to our understanding of dinosaur evolution and the reasons behind our interpretation of the prehistoric world. Regardless of age, you will enjoy not only reading about the prehistoric world of Mesozoic Appalachia and see it come to life in beautiful detail by an artist who is up to date on the latest paleontological journal publications.

About the Author:

Alexander W. McLean grew up in an Air Force family, living in California, Virginia, Hawaii, Germany, Alabama, North Dakota and, now, Montana. His grandmother introduced him to dinosaurs when he was two years old, starting a passion he has pursued throughout his life and travels. He is a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in geology and has continued his passion for dinosaurs through graduate studies in paleontology at Montana State University. Along with an academic and personal interest in paleontology, Alexander was also a geologist for oil rigs in North Dakota and Montana and currently works as a geologist in Montana. While first being exposed to the under-appreciated dinosaurs of Appalachia at Auburn University as an undergraduate, the detailed research for the book was done first for Alexander’s series of video documentaries under the title AWMdinoguy uploaded on Bitchute. The videos and channel are still online for people to enjoy for free.
