About the Author: 

Dr. Georgen Guerrero earned his Ph.D. in Criminal Justice with a specialization in Criminology from Sam Houston State University. His areas of expertise and research interests include incarcerated populations, the death penalty, deviant behavior, juvenile justice, criminology, and art crimes. His research has led to several publications in the areas of capital punishment, criminology, penology, and juvenile justice. He has won several prestigious and national awards for his research and teaching.

Dr. Guerrero is an extensive traveler, explorer, and global citizen. He has traveled to all 50 U.S. states, to over 50 different countries around the world, and to all seven continents. Dr. Guerrero enjoys the outdoors, learning about different cultures and customs, learning new languages, and exploring the world through travel.

Dr. Guerrero was recently selected to participate in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational & Cultural Affairs/Sports Diplomacy Division between the United States and Uzbekistan implemented by The Basketball Embassy and PH International and was also recently selected by his university to lead his tenth study abroad program. In terms of travel, Dr. Guerrero recently reached his seventh continent (Antarctica), went Running with the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain, and climbed to the top of Machu Picchu Mountain in Peru.
