About the Authors:
Timothy Meyler, lecturer of physical education in the Department of Kinesiology, Recreation and Sport Studies, joined the faculty at Coastal Carolina University in 2008. Meyler taught physical education in public schools for 10 years and has won several awards including the Burke County Teacher of the Year award in 2008. He earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from High Point University in 1994 and a master's degree in exercise & sport science from East Carolina University in 1997. His areas of expertise include elementary physical education, exergaming, and the importance of recess within the regular education setting.
Brooke Towner is a lecturer of Exercise and Sport Science at Coastal Carolina University. She received her bachelor’s degree in physical education in 2005as well as her master’s degree in exercise physiology in 2007 from West Virginia University. Towner has gained experience working in the commercial and corporate fitness industry and teaching health in the public schools. Her current interests include active gaming and balance in an elderly population and group exercise.
Marcia Rosiek is a teaching associate at Coastal Carolina University (CCU) in the department of Kinesiology and Sport Studies. Mrs. Rosiek has been with CCU since 2011. She has authored research in physical activity and behaviors of adolescents. She is a graduate of the University of South Florida, and has her masters from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Mrs. Rosiek teaches students the importance of exercise and physical activity to students that plan to pursue careers in Exercise Science.
About the Book:
Lifetime Fitness and Physical Activity Lab Manual is designed to provide the students with an opportunity to explore and apply fitness principles in a group or individual setting. The assessments and activities in this manual will cover concepts linked to fitness and physical activity such as health related fitness assessments, resting and target heart, body composition analysis, resistance training program design, physical activity progression and many more. The purpose is to introduce students to various fitness related concepts so that they can apply the concepts to meet their individual needs.
