About the Book: 

Cosmopolitan Ethics is an idea whose time has come. We live in a cosmopolitan world of globalization, where the very details of life from around the world are at your digital fingertips, and the cross section of the world’s cultures and belief systems are together in schools and organizations at every level and almost every locale.

However, we still behave in ways more in line with tribal societies of long ago. Our technology has brought us closer together, but our intellectual and philosophical frameworks are limited in their ability to help us navigate this brave new world.

Cosmopolitan Ethics is simple, but not easy. The speeches and proceedings from a panel discussion at Morehouse College ask and answer the question: how ought we to get along? This short book gives a wonderful introduction to the deep and exciting body of knowledge on how we need to think, and act, to make the world a place of peace and harmony. The perspectives of the participants are diverse in ethnic origin, religious affiliation, and academic discipline. Yet, they all contribute to a mosaic of understanding that can be helpful for readers regardless of whether they are long term students or newcomers to Cosmopolitan Ethics.

About the Author: 

Roy Craft, MPA, is President of GroupSpace Management LLC. Roy has had a long and varied career from technical and retail fields to international corporate business to non-profit and higher education administration. He has simultaneously had a strong avocational interest in positive peace and sustainability. For more than two decades, Mr. Craft worked in the automotive industry, where he held management and executive leadership positions for Saab and General Motors both in the United States and Japan. Mr. Craft led the Regional Council of Churches of Atlanta, a 135 year old Atlanta based non-profit, which played a major role in Atlanta’s response to Hurricane Katrina. During the last ten years in higher education, first at Morehouse College and then at Georgia Institute of Technology, Craft developed programs in sustainability, vocational discernment, leadership development, and furthering STEM education in Georgia K-12 schools. In the area of peace and sustainability, he was the driving force at Morehouse College to write and secure grants to establish a Peace Studies program.
