About the Author: Dr. Janita Gilliam has over 15 years of experience practicing as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Her experience spans across the pediatric population (birth- school-aged). Dr. Gilliam has experience in assessment, diagnosing, planning and treating children with speech-language and feeding disorders. She has provided speech and language services in a variety of settings including schools, private clinics, home health, and early intervention. Dr. Gilliam is a College Assistant Professor at Abilene Christian University-Dallas Campus where she teaches advanced graduate courses in the CSD program. She has been an active member of the Texas Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.   In addition, Dr. Gilliam has presented at numerous local and national conferences highlighting her research and expertise in child language disorders and cultural and linguistically diverse practices.
