About the Authors: 

Dr. Rochelle Parks-Yancy is a Full Professor of Management at the Jesse H. Jones School of Business at Texas Southern University. Her PhD is from Rutgers University. Her face-to-face and online teaching expertise is in Human Resources and Organizational Behavior. Prior to academia, she directed executive development programs for managers and was account manager for a career development organization. Dr. Parks-Yancy’s research examines social capital’s impact on careers. She is published in numerous academic journals and has written two books: Are You Making the Right Impression: Preparing Now for Your Real Life After College and Equal Work, Unequal Careers: African-Americans in the Workforce. Dr. Parks-Yancy was awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to Armenia. She taught graduate students at American University of Armenia, studied Armenian job search practices, and trained managers at Gold’s Gym, Inc. Her consulting expertise includes: Managerial training, recruitment/hiring practices, job search methods, and salary negotiation.

Dr. Cooley is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Texas Southern University, and the owner/operator of D & C Consulting. She teaches Principles of Marketing, Marketing Channels/Sales, Strategic Marketing Management, Marketing Research, and Advertising/IMC courses to undergraduate and graduate students. She is the advisor to the American Marketing Association, and while in this position, she has had the opportunity to coordinate and implement the International Marketing Exchange Excursion for undergraduate business students to travel to China during the summer, as well as lead her chapter to the title of 2016’s Top Small Chapter of the Year. She is also a member of the Collegiate Chapters Council.

Dr. Cooley has published her research in several different types of formats ranging from academic journals to academic international conferences. She has published articles in the Journal of International Consumer Marketing, Journal of Internet Commerce, International Journal of Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Marketing, Academy of Marketing Science Review, The Online Journal of Distance Education and e-Learning, Academy of Marketing Studies Journal, Journal of Social Media in Society, and Southwestern Business Administration Journal. Her research interests cover topics such as health care marketing, online communities, ethnic marketing, social media and communication, distance learning and education, as well as cross-cultural behavior and advertising. She has also published a book, Are You Making the Right Impression? Preparing NOW for Life after College.

Dr. Cooley received a Bachelor’s of Science, Master’s of Health Care Administration, and a Master’s of Business Administration from the University of Arkansas - Fayetteville. She received her Doctorate of Philosophy in 2006 from the University of Memphis. She is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Order of Eastern Star, the Collegiate Chapters Council of the American Marketing Association, Co-Chair of the International Collegiate American Marketing Association Conference, Academy of Marketing Science, Society for Marketing Advances, and a member of the 2010 class of Who’s Who in Black Houston. She currently serves as the Co-Chair of the International Collegiate American Marketing Association Conference. She attends Higher Dimension Church where she is an active member serving in several ministries. Her passion is to reach as many children and youth as possible to let them know that they can be ANYTHING!

A native of Hope, AR, Dr. Cooley is the wife of Cornelius Cooley and the proud mother of 3 children: Moesha, Zachary, and Sebastian.
