Author Description
Simone Tucker, M.S.Ed. is a registered yoga instructor and has been teaching Yoga for over 10 years. Her philosophy on teaching yoga is to make postures accessible to everyone, using modifications as needed to fit the posture to the body and in this way giving students ownership of their own yoga practice. Simone received both her B.S. and M.S. in Exercise Science from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, were she currently serves as a faculty member in the Exercise and Sport Science department. Besides practicing yoga, Simone is an avid triathlete, having competed in full-length Ironman races and she also coaches runners and triathletes.
Book Description
When searching for a book to use in my beginner/intermediate university yoga courses, I was unable to find a text that was suitable for higher education environments. My inspiration for writing A Practical Guide To Yoga Postures was the lack of a non-philosophical text that includes both traditional instructions to basic yoga postures as well as specific additional instructions to allow students to modify each pose to fit their own practice. During the years of teaching yoga to beginners I also began to see patterns of common mistakes with foundational yoga postures and decided to include them in this book to help students self-correct, leading to a safer, more satisfying yoga practice.
